Manchester City Case Could Drag On for Another Two to Three Years

Manchester City’s long-running Premier League financial case may still have a long way to go, with sources cautioning that the entire process could take another two to three years to reach a final resolution.

Reports emerged on Friday that an independent panel had found Manchester City guilty of all but one of the more than 100 charges brought against the club. However, the verdict does not necessarily mark the end of the legal battle, with City expected to challenge the findings through the appeals process.

According to The Telegraph’s football reporting, sources have warned that it could take another two to three years before the case is finally concluded. That would potentially push the ultimate resolution into 2028 or 2029.

The Premier League case has already lasted more than three and a half years since the charges were formally announced in February 2023. The independent hearing itself took place in London between September and December 2024, after which the tribunal spent a prolonged period considering the evidence.

Manchester City have consistently denied the allegations and maintain that the Premier League process remains ongoing. The club is expected to appeal the reported findings, meaning the sanctions and final outcome are still to be determined.

The potential punishments could include significant financial penalties, points deductions and other sporting sanctions, although no final punishment has yet been announced.
