The city of Manchester is ready to split in two once again as Manchester United welcome Manchester City to Old Trafford for the first Manchester Derby of the 2026/27 Premier League season.

There is plenty at stake beyond local bragging rights. City have made a perfect start to the league campaign and arrive under new manager Enzo Maresca looking to maintain their momentum. For Maresca, it will be his first taste of the Manchester Derby, adding another layer of intrigue to an already massive occasion.

United, meanwhile, have endured a less convincing start. Michael Carrick's side have collected just one league victory from their opening three matches, including a defeat to Hull City and a draw against Everton. Their impressive 4-0 Champions League victory over Sabah, however, provided a timely confidence boost before the derby.

Benjamin Šeško has also given United supporters reason for optimism. The Slovenian striker has recently returned from injury and has scored in consecutive matches, including against Sabah, giving Carrick another attacking weapon for the biggest domestic fixture of the weekend.

City will be looking towards Erling Haaland, who has rediscovered his scoring touch with five goals in his last three matches. United will need to find a way to contain the Norwegian while also dealing with City's attacking quality across the pitch.

With Old Trafford expected to provide a hostile atmosphere and both teams desperate for three points, another chapter of the Manchester rivalry is ready to be written.

Manchester United vs Manchester City. Old Trafford. The derby is back.
