Mbappé Reveals Special Ballon d’Or Dedication for Africa

Kylian Mbappé has revealed that, if he wins the Ballon d’Or, he wants to dedicate the prestigious individual award to the African continent.

The Real Madrid superstar spoke emotionally about his connection to his African roots, explaining that despite his global success, he has never lost touch with where his family comes from.

“I’ve never lost the connection with my roots and my origins. Every time I go to Africa, I feel the love from the people,” Mbappé said.

The France captain added that he has always felt a special bond with people across Africa and hopes to represent that connection if he gets his hands on football’s most prestigious individual prize.

“I’ve always felt very loved on the African continent. I hope I can leave with the Ballon d’Or and, in one way or another, dedicate it to them too.”

Mbappé has long spoken proudly about his African heritage, with his father, Wilfried Mbappé, having Cameroonian roots and his mother, Fayza Lamari, being of Algerian descent.

Winning the Ballon d’Or would therefore carry significance beyond personal achievement for Mbappé. It would also give him an opportunity to celebrate the continent and the roots that remain an important part of his identity.
