Noel Gallagher Sends Defiant Man City Message

Noel Gallagher has delivered a defiant message to Manchester City amid the fallout from the club's reported guilty verdict on 114 of the 115 Premier League charges.

The Oasis star and lifelong City supporter made it clear that even the most extreme punishment would not make him walk away from the club.

“Bring it,” Gallagher said when discussing the possibility of City being relegated.

“I’ve been down with this club lower than you can ever imagine. If this club has to play a thousand games behind closed doors in Uganda, I’ll be there. The lads who followed us down to the third division will all feel the same.”

Gallagher's comments come at a particularly sensitive moment for City.

The Athletic has reported that an independent commission found the club guilty on 114 of the 115 charges relating to alleged breaches of Premier League financial regulations. However, the full written verdict has not yet been published publicly, sanctions have not been determined and City are expected to appeal.

The scale of any eventual punishment therefore remains unknown.

But Gallagher's argument is that punishment would not change what Manchester City means to supporters who followed the club before its transformation into one of the most successful sides in English football.

“We don’t support Manchester City because of Abu Dhabi or Pep Guardiola or Erling Haaland or Sergio Aguero — we support Manchester City because it’s who we are,” he said.

That reference to the third division carries particular weight.

City were relegated to the third tier in 1998 after a chaotic period in the club's history, but returned to the Premier League within two seasons.

Gallagher has previously spoken extensively about following City through those difficult years, including travelling to away matches when the club was outside England's top two divisions.

His latest comments underline a different side of the current controversy.

While the financial case could potentially result in major sporting sanctions, including points deductions or, at the extreme end, expulsion, Gallagher argues that none of those punishments would erase the emotional connection between the club and supporters who backed City long before the Premier League titles, Pep Guardiola or the Abu Dhabi ownership.

For City fans, however, the legal battle is still far from over.

The club maintains that its position remains unchanged and that the Premier League process is ongoing, with significant elements still subject to confidentiality.

Any sanctions would have to be determined before City could know the sporting consequences of the reported findings, while an appeal could further prolong the case.

For Gallagher, though, the message is simple.

Take away the trophies. Take away the Premier League. Send them down the divisions. He says he'll still be there.
