Osimhen Fires Galatasaray Into Half-Time Lead Against Başakşehir
Victor Osimhen has once again made his mark for Galatasaray, firing the Turkish champions into a 1–0 half-time lead against İstanbul Başakşehir in Friday’s Süper Lig clash.

The Nigerian striker opened the scoring in the 16th minute, capitalising on a Galatasaray attack to give his side the breakthrough. Lucas Torreira was credited with the assist as Osimhen found the back of the net and immediately sparked celebrations among the Galatasaray players and supporters.
The goal was another indication of Osimhen’s outstanding form in Turkey. The 27-year-old entered the fixture having already registered five goals and two assists in his opening three league appearances of the 2026/27 campaign.

Başakşehir attempted to respond after falling behind, but Galatasaray maintained their advantage and looked dangerous whenever Osimhen was involved. The forward continued to threaten the home defence, registering another effort on target before the interval.
Galatasaray’s ability to hold their lead will now be tested in the second half, with Başakşehir expected to increase the pressure in search of an equaliser. However, Osimhen’s early strike has placed the visitors in a strong position heading into the final 45 minutes.

For Galatasaray, the objective will be to remain composed, protect their advantage and potentially add a second goal. For Osimhen, another decisive contribution would further strengthen his growing status as one of the most influential forwards in the Turkish league.
With the Istanbul derby finely poised, all eyes will be on Galatasaray when the second half gets underway, as the Nigerian striker was seen off with an injury in the first half of the game, shortly after his opener.
