Salah Deal Already Paying Off for Trabzonspor

Mohamed Salah's arrival at Trabzonspor has already created a huge financial boost for the Turkish club.

Trabzonspor president Ertuğrul Doğan revealed that the club sold season subscriptions worth almost 550 million Turkish lira in just three days after completing the signing of the Egyptian superstar.

Speaking to Turkish outlet HT Spor, Doğan thanked the club's supporters for their response and said the revenue had already covered more than half of the annual cost of the Salah deal.

“I thank our supporters. They lived up to expectations and did not let us down,” Doğan said, according to Goal's report of the interview.

The president added that the club is targeting 25,000 season subscriptions, which would allow the ticket revenue to cover the cost of Salah's deal in full.

The 550 million lira figure does not include shirt sales featuring Salah's name. Doğan said the club had not yet calculated that additional revenue.

The numbers show just how much excitement Salah has generated in Trabzon.

The former Liverpool forward arrived in Turkey as one of the biggest names ever to join the club, having left Liverpool after nine years with 257 goals in 442 appearances. Reuters reported that hundreds of supporters welcomed him when he first arrived in Turkey.

Trabzonspor finished third in the Turkish Super Lig last season and will compete in the Europa League qualifying play-off round.

Now, Salah's arrival is already changing the club's commercial picture before he has even played a competitive match.
