Real Madrid Weigh Up Tomás Araújo and Nico Schlotterbeck as Centre-Back Targets
Real Madrid are reportedly evaluating Benfica's Tomás Araújo and Borussia Dortmund's Nico Schlotterbeck as potential defensive reinforcements ahead of the new season.

Real Madrid are reportedly considering two of Europe's highly-rated defenders, Tomás Araújo and Nico Schlotterbeck, as they continue to assess options to strengthen their backline.
According to Spanish journalist José Félix Díaz, the club has both players on its radar as part of its ongoing evaluation of centre-back targets. While no formal negotiations or transfer bids have been reported, the pair are understood to be among the names being monitored by the Madrid hierarchy.
Araújo, 24, has impressed with Portuguese giants S.L. Benfica, establishing himself as one of the most promising defenders in the Primeira Liga. His composure on the ball, defensive awareness, and versatility have attracted interest from several top European clubs.
Meanwhile, 26-year-old Schlotterbeck remains a key figure for Borussia Dortmund and is regarded as one of Germany's leading centre-backs. The defender's experience at both club and international level makes him an attractive option for a side looking to balance immediate quality with long-term planning.
Real Madrid's interest should not be interpreted as an imminent transfer move, however. Current reports suggest the club is simply assessing the market and compiling a shortlist of potential defensive recruits.
With the summer transfer window in full swing, Madrid are expected to continue exploring options before deciding whether to make a concrete move for either Araújo or Schlotterbeck
