Gyökeres Makes His Community Shield Feel Important
Viktor Gyökeres has made it clear that he does not see Arsenal’s Community Shield clash with Manchester City as just another friendly.

Viktor Gyökeres does not appear to see Arsenal's Community Shield clash with Manchester City as just another friendly.
The Swedish striker was visibly confused when the match was described as a pre-season friendly, with his reaction quickly going viral among Arsenal supporters.
Arsenal will face Manchester City in the 2026 Community Shield on Sunday, August 16, at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff. Arsenal qualified as Premier League champions, while City won the FA Cup last season.
The Community Shield is traditionally played before the Premier League season begins. Although it is often treated as a pre-season fixture in England, there is still a trophy at stake.
That appears to be how Gyökeres is looking at it.

The striker joined Arsenal last summer and played an important role in their Premier League title-winning campaign, finishing as the club's top scorer with 21 goals in all competitions.
Now he has the chance to begin the new season by adding another trophy.
That attitude may also explain why his reaction to the word “friendly” caught so much attention. For a player who has already experienced winning major trophies, the Community Shield is still a chance to put another medal in the cabinet.
Arsenal will then begin their Premier League title defence against Coventry City on August 21, meaning the meeting with City is their final competitive test before the new league campaign.
Whether fans consider the Community Shield a major trophy or a glorified friendly, Gyökeres clearly wants to win it.
And honestly, who can blame him?
