PSG vs Aston Villa: UEFA Super Cup Set for Thursday

The first major European trophy of the new season is almost here.

Paris Saint-Germain will face Aston Villa in the 2026 UEFA Super Cup at Stadion Salzburg in Austria on Wednesday, August 12.

For Australian viewers, the match will be shown live on Stan Sport early on Thursday morning, August 13, with coverage starting at 4:55am AEST and kick-off scheduled for 5:00am.

PSG qualified after winning the Champions League for the second consecutive season. They defeated Arsenal on penalties in the 2026 final to retain the European crown.

Aston Villa earned their place by winning the Europa League, beating Freiburg in the final to claim their first European trophy since 1982.

The match also gives PSG the chance to defend the Super Cup after they won the trophy for the first time in 2025, beating Tottenham on penalties.

For Villa, it is their first appearance in the modern one-match version of the competition since the club's previous Super Cup triumph came over two legs in 1982.

It will be an intriguing meeting between the reigning Champions League winners and the Europa League holders.
