Milan Robin is one step away from completing one of the most unusual journeys in French football.

The Le Mans midfielder has climbed through almost every level of the French football pyramid, from Regional 1 to Ligue 2, and will now play in Ligue 1 for the first time after helping Le Mans secure promotion to the top flight.

Robin began his senior journey with the FC Metz reserve team in Regional 1. He then experienced successive promotions to National 3 and National 2 before leaving Metz for Cholet in the National.

He later joined Martigues and helped them reach Ligue 2 before making another move to Le Mans in 2025.

His career has therefore followed a remarkable path:

🇫🇷 Regional 1 — Metz

⬆️ National 3 — Metz

⬆️ National 2 — Metz

⬆️ National — Cholet, Martigues

⬆️ Ligue 2 — Martigues, Le Mans

⬆️ Ligue 1 — Le Mans, coming next

Robin scored the goal that helped send Le Mans back to Ligue 1 in May, finding the net in stoppage time against Bastia to seal the club's promotion. At 26, he is finally about to reach the level he dreamed of as a young player.

The midfielder has previously spoken about taking his career one step at a time. After leaving Metz for Cholet in the National, he explained that he wanted to progress gradually rather than rush his development.

Now, the final step is here.

Le Mans will return to Ligue 1 for the 2026/27 season, 16 years after their previous appearance in France's top division.

For Robin, it is the reward for a career built without shortcuts.

From Regional 1 to the brink of Ligue 1.

One more step. 🇫🇷👏
