Manchester United are actively preparing an opening bid to sign West Ham United's rising midfield star, Mateus Fernandes.

The Red Devils have identified the highly-rated Portuguese young midfielder as a key target to reinforce their midfield ahead of the new season.

According to Sky Sports News, West Ham are fully aware of the brewing interest but are in absolutely no hurry to part ways with their prized asset.

Regardless of their relegation, the Hammers currently value Fernandes at a €92.5 million (around £80m). Given the steep valuation and West Ham's strong negotiating stance, Manchester United will need to find a structured compromise or present a highly compelling package to tempt the London club into a sale.
