Manchester United Target Crysencio Summerville in £50m Swoop as Marcus Rashford Future Hangs in the Balance
Manchester United have launched enquiries for West Ham United winger Crysencio Summerville, who is flying high at the World Cup with the Netherlands. However, any potential £50 million move heavily depends on finding a permanent exit for Marcus Rashford.

Manchester United have identified West Ham United attacker Crysencio Summerville as a primary candidate for their left-wing position, The Athletic revealed.
The Red Devils have already lodged formal enquiries into the availability of the 24-year-old Netherlands international, who is currently turning heads at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Summerville has emerged as one of the standout performers of the tournament’s opening days, most recently netting a trademark, spectacular goal for the Dutch national team in their 2-2 draw against Japan in Houston.
Despite suffering relegation from the Premier League with West Ham last season, his stock remains incredibly high. United’s leadership believes the dangerously quick, 5ft 9in wide forward possesses the elite traits required to step up to Champions League football.

However, any potential swoop for the winger—who is expected to cost around £50 million and is under contract in London until June 2029—hinges entirely on the future of Marcus Rashford.
Manchester United's transfer window strategy has been complicated by Barcelona’s decision not to activate their €30 million buy option for Rashford, which officially expired on Monday. As it stands, the 28-year-old England international is scheduled to return to Old Trafford next month.
While United are strictly only entertaining permanent solutions for Rashford, a return to Barcelona has not been completely ruled out, and several Premier League clubs have expressed interest.
There is an active £40 million release clause available to all suitors, excluding local rivals Manchester City and Liverpool. Crucially, if a foreign move does not materialize, Rashford's preference is to stay and honour the remaining 24 months of his Manchester United contract rather than join a domestic rival.
If Rashford remains at Old Trafford, it is highly improbable that head coach Michael Carrick’s side will pursue Summerville, as the left-wing position would no longer be a pressing priority.
While the wing department remains up in the air, United are aggressively pressing ahead with plans to reinforce their engine room.
A deal has already been struck to sign Brazilian midfielder Ederson from Atalanta, and the club is actively working on secondary midfield targets. Chief among them is Summerville's West Ham teammate, Mateus Fernandes.
Negotiations with the 21-year-old’s agent, Jorge Mendes, are advancing rapidly, and personal terms are not expected to be an issue.
United are clearly preparing for a busy summer under Carrick, but the dominoes will only truly start to fall once Rashford's future is resolved.
