Uruguay Camp In Turmoil As Players Challenge Bielsa’s Tactics
Tension arises in the Uruguayan camp ahead of the decisive encounter of the group stage against Spain, with team senior players leading a rebel against head Coach Marcelo Bisela.

As reported by radio station Espectador Deportes, the former Leeds head coach, was confronted by a group of players, led by Real Madrid captain Federico Valverde and Internacional shot stopper Rochet.
The group had the backing of premier league duo, Manchester United’ Manuel Ugarte and Tottenham Hotspur’ Rodrigo Bentancur.
The players expressed their displeasure over the workload in training. They have said to believe that the intense playing style of the team’s head coach has led to avoidable injuries in the camp.
The former Leeds head coach has this intense training style which the players nicknamed “murder ball”. Former players of the National team had raised concerns in the past which had put the coach under scrutiny.
The players had in their resolution, suggested to play on a different style while they face Spain in the last game of the group in the early hours of Saturday. They suggest to operate in a low block and attempt to exploit on the counter-attacks.
A 48 minutes meeting of the whole squad was called by Bisela, during which he explained different aspects and perspective of his job. He opted to play in a mirrored formation to their opponents.
Reports claims the players have bad blood for the Argentine since he stopped calling Luis Suarez, his failure to include midfielder Nahitan Nandez in the World Cup squad also sparked tension, and they had tried to get rid of him.
A good number of players left the meeting when the Argentine mentioned players like Martin Cáceres and Maxi Araújo had their careers orchestrated by himself.
Situation got bad and defender Jose Maria Gimenez tried to diffuse the tension to no avail, leaving the camp in disarray.
According to Espectador Deportes, one of the directors of the Uruguayan Football Association has been alerted of the hostile situation, and he has told the group that the coach would be gone in less than a month.
Qualification would require a tough test for Uruguay who had drawn the first two games against Saudi Arabia and Cape Verde, and now has Spain to contend with on the final fixture. Maximum points would guarantee the team a place in the round of 32.
