Chelsea Close In on Maxence Lacroix as Major Defensive Signing Nears Completion

Chelsea are on the verge of completing one of the biggest defensive transfers of the summer, with Crystal Palace centre-back Maxence Lacroix closing in on a move to Stamford Bridge.

According to reports from Alex Crook, negotiations between the two clubs are at an advanced stage, with Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish personally involved in discussions. The overall package is expected to exceed the £52 million Tottenham paid Brighton for Jan Paul van Hecke earlier in the transfer window, highlighting Chelsea's determination to strengthen their back line.
