Manchester United Step Up Search for New Defensive Midfielder as Manu Koné Emerges as Leading Target

Manchester United are accelerating plans to strengthen their midfield further this summer, with the club now prioritising the signing of a specialist defensive midfielder following the arrivals of Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos.

One of the names firmly on United’s shortlist is Roma midfielder Manu Koné. Last season, Koné made more than 40 appearances across all competitions for Roma, underlining his importance to the Italian club. His ability to recover possession, break opposition lines with his passing and carry the ball through midfield has made him one of the most highly rated defensive midfielders in Serie A.
