Football fans in Awada were treated to a memorable day as Super Eagles stars Raphael Onyedika, Victor Boniface, and Bruno Onyemaechi joined the final of the Raphael Onyedika Super 8 Tournament on 14th June, 2026.

The event, organised by Ozalla FA CEO, Mr Ikenna Osueke, attracted a massive crowd, with popular Igbo rapper Jeriq also in attendance. The music star received a hero's welcome from fans, with many describing him as the true king of the streets of Onitsha as he interacted with supporters throughout the day.

The final match was played between Ozalla FA and Golden Boys. Before kickoff, many fans considered Golden Boys the underdogs. To balance the contest and add excitement to the occasion, Onyedika, Boniface, and Bruno lined up for Golden Boys.

The match lived up to expectations, with both teams battling intensely from start to finish. Despite several attacking moves and moments of quality, neither side could find the breakthrough as the game ended 0-0 after regulation time.

The winner was eventually decided through a penalty shootout. Showing the composure and confidence that have made them stars on the international stage, Raphael Onyedika, Victor Boniface, and Bruno Onyemaechi all converted their spot-kicks in professional fashion.

Their contributions proved decisive as Golden Boys emerged victorious, sparking wild celebrations among players, officials, and supporters.

The victory earned Golden Boys the tournament's grand prize of ₦3 million, while the competition once again highlighted the growing impact of grassroots football in Awada and the commitment of Raphael Onyedika to giving back to his community.

For many fans in attendance, the sight of Super Eagles stars sharing the pitch with local talents and celebrating alongside the people of Awada was the perfect ending to a successful tournament.
