The 28-year-old is currently away with England at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, after a loan spell last season at Barcelona, where he had a good time while with the club, contributing massively to the team’s glory in domestic competitions.

The Spanish champions opted against activating their £26 million purchase option, but splashed a whopping fee of around £70m on his country man Anthony Gordon, leaving his long-term future unresolved.

New Manchester United head coach Michael Carrick has reportedly opened direct talks with the representatives of Marcus Rashford as Manchester United explore the possibility of reintegrating the forward into the first-team squad, as reported by Fabrizio Romano.

United are not planning another loan agreement, meaning a permanent sale or reintegration looked like the main options for the English man, according to reports by CaughtOffside.

A win situation for both club and player, as Carrick would get to access Rashford during the preseasons and on Rashford’ camp, a chance to repair relationship with the club.

Carrick is set to use pre-season as an assessment to judge him fairly. If Rashford looks inspired , sharp and ready to compete, United may have a player who can still help them. If not, a sale can still happen later.

Whatever be the case, the burnt bridge between Rashford and his boyhood club is set to get repaired. From the look of things, Rashford is likely to end up staying at United as the player is eager to work with new coach Michael, and United are still in need of attacking options.
