Chelsea are reportedly moving closer to signing Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton in what could become one of the biggest Premier League transfers of the summer.
According to journalist John Harriot, Chelsea are close to reaching an agreement for the 22 year old English midfielder in a deal worth around £75 million.
Wharton has developed into one of the Premier League's most highly rated young midfielders since joining Crystal Palace. He was very instrumental to the recent win of the Europa Conference League for Crystal Palace. His passing, composure and ability to control games has attracted interest from several top clubs in recent seasons.
Reports have regularly linked Chelsea with the midfielder, who is widely regarded as one of England's brightest talents. According to previous reports, Palace value Wharton highly and have been expected to demand a significant fee for any potential transfer.
According to Harriot's report, the player is interested in making the move to Stamford Bridge as he looks to take the next step in his career.
The discussions could also have an impact on another player.

Reports suggest Crystal Palace are in separate talks regarding Chelsea defender Axel Disasi, who could potentially move to Selhurst Park for around £20 million. Disasi joined Chelsea in 2023 and has accumulated valuable Premier League experience during his time at the club.
At this stage, neither transfer has been officially confirmed by the clubs involved.
However, if the deals are completed, Chelsea would add one of England's most promising midfielders, while Crystal Palace would strengthen their defence with an experienced Premier League centre-back.
For now, all eyes remain on the negotiations as both clubs continue discussions ahead of the new season.
