Barcelona Face FIFA RFEF Complaint Over Julián Álvarez Pursuit

Barcelona have officially received Atlético Madrid's complaint over their pursuit of Julián Álvarez, with FIFA and the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) now involved in the growing transfer dispute.

According to reports from COPE, Atlético's sporting director signed the complaint, accusing Barcelona of holding talks with Álvarez while he remains under contract and claiming the Catalan club influenced the striker's public comments during the FIFA World Cup.

The RFEF has formally notified Barcelona and opened disciplinary proceedings. The club's legal team is now preparing its official response, insisting it will prove no rules were broken.

At the heart of the case is FIFA's "protected period" regulations, which restrict clubs from encouraging players to breach existing contracts. Atlético argue Barcelona crossed that line by allegedly negotiating with Álvarez without the club's permission.

Barcelona, however, remain confident they acted within the rules. Reports in Spain say the club views the investigation as part of the normal legal process and believes its evidence will clear any wrongdoing.

The case has become one of the biggest transfer controversies of the summer. Atlético have repeatedly insisted Álvarez is not for sale, while Barcelona have maintained their interest in signing the Argentina forward.
