The report says Everton will pay an initial £16.5 million, with several add-ons included in the agreement. The bonuses include £3 million if Hackney earns England caps, more payments if Everton qualify for the UEFA Champions League, and another £5 million based on appearances.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Everton manager David Moyes strongly wanted the midfielder and pushed for the deal. Hackney is now expected to complete his move and sign his contract this week.
The 23-year-old has been one of Middlesbrough's standout players in recent seasons. His energy, passing and ability to control games have made him one of the most highly rated young midfielders outside the Premier League.

This transfer also shows Everton's plan to build a stronger squad under David Moyes. Instead of making short-term signings, the club is investing in young players who can improve now and become even better in the future.
If Hackney adapts quickly to Premier League football, Everton may have secured one of the smartest midfield signings of the summer.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the deal is now agreed, with only the final formalities remaining before the transfer becomes official.
